A new agent's first 90 days decide whether they stay. This checklist runs from the paperwork that must be done before they sell to the coaching that gets them to steady production.

Agency owners search for an "insurance agent onboarding checklist" and "insurance agent onboarding process"; new agents search for an insurance agent community to learn from.

> **Check your own requirements** Licensing, appointment and training rules vary by state, carrier and product line. Use this as a starting list, not as legal or compliance advice.

## Before day one

- Confirm the resident license is active for the right lines of authority, and apply for non-resident licenses in every state they will sell in
- Confirm errors and omissions (E&O) coverage meets your agency's requirements
- Submit carrier contracting and appointments; timing varies by carrier and state
- Complete anti-money-laundering (AML) training if they will sell life insurance or annuities, which most carriers require
- Complete annuity best-interest training where the state requires it before selling annuities
- For Medicare, complete the annual AHIP certification (or an accepted equivalent) and each carrier's certification before selling
- Run any background check your agency requires

## Week one

- Set up access to the CRM, quoting tools, e-application systems and email
- Train on your compliance rules: call recording, do-not-call and consent rules for outbound calls, and Medicare marketing rules where they apply
- Teach the products for your top carriers first
- Hand over your scripts and talk tracks, and role-play them
- Introduce a mentor and set a weekly one-to-one

## First 30 days

- Shadow experienced agents, then run joint appointments
- Set daily activity targets: conversations, appointments, applications
- Review every early application before it is submitted
- Join the team's weekly training call

## Days 31 to 90

- Review production against targets every week
- Plan continuing education to meet the state's renewal requirements
- Recognize first policies and steady activity in front of the team
- Agree the next step: independent production, a specialty, or mentoring the next class

- **Live video rooms** for the weekly training call and role-play
- **Points and leaderboards** to make activity and first wins visible
- **Child Tribes** for each office, team or downline agency
- **Adepts** so experienced agents can offer paid mentorship sessions
