Build a course from lessons and quizzes, sell it on its own, or include it in a paid Tribe tier, and keep your students talking in the same place they learn. > **Looking for a course platform?** If you searched for an online course platform, Lessons is the Allied Tribes name for courses. ## How selling a course works 1. Build the course from lessons and quizzes. Freya can draft course content with you. 2. Price it on its own, or gate it behind a paid Tribe tier. 3. Buyers pay through Stripe Checkout and are enrolled when the payment succeeds. 4. Refunds and disputes remove access automatically. ## Why a course does better inside a Tribe Students can ask questions in the feed, join a live room for office hours and learn alongside each other. On Allied Tribes the course, the group, the events and the live calls are one product, so there is nothing to stitch together. ## Fees Allied Tribes takes 11% of sales on Free, 5% on Pro ($11 a month) and 3% on Leader ($111 a month). Among platforms that host a course and a group together, Allied Tribes costs least at low revenue: about $96 a month all-in at $1,000 in sales, against about $214 on Kajabi Basic. At higher revenue Kajabi's lack of a platform fee narrows the gap, so check the table at your own numbers. ### Why is Kajabi more expensive in 2026? In January 2026 Kajabi retired its Kickstarter plan and raised Basic from $149 to $179 a month. Many reviews written before then still quote the old prices. ### Does any Kajabi alternative include email marketing? Podia includes email marketing on its plans. Allied Tribes does not have email broadcasts or funnels; it uses Tribe posts, chat and in-app notifications instead. **Try a Kajabi alternative with a free plan** Set up your Tribe with Freya in minutes. Here is how the two compare, with prices checked on skool.com and kajabi.com in October 2026. > **Who wrote this** Allied Tribes publishes this page and is neither Skool nor Kajabi. Both sides get a "where it wins" list, prices come from each platform's own site, and Allied Tribes appears only as a third option at the end. ## The short answer Choose **Skool** if your group is the product, you want to start for $9 a month, and you do not need email or funnels. Choose **Kajabi** if email marketing, funnels and a website are how you sell, and a $179 a month starting price fits your revenue. It does not handle licensing, carrier appointments, contracting or commissions, so keep your agency management system and licensing tools and use Allied Tribes alongside them. ## What it costs A single team can start on Free ($0, 1 Tribe of up to 100 agents). Pro is $11 a month for 11 Tribes of up to 1,000 members each. Leader is $111 a month for unlimited Tribes and members, which suits an IMO with many downline agencies. Pricing is per account, not per seat. ## Frequently asked questions ### What is the best platform to train and onboard new insurance agents? If you want training, a team space and live calls together, Allied Tribes runs agent training as Lessons inside a Tribe with live video rooms and leaderboards, priced per account rather than per seat. Dedicated LMS products go deeper on compliance tracking; Allied Tribes does not track licensing or continuing education credits. ### Can an IMO run a separate space for each downline agency? Yes. Create a parent Tribe for the organization and a child Tribe for each agency, office or team. Leader includes unlimited Tribes and members. ### Is Allied Tribes priced per agent? Here is what each costs, what the transaction fee covers, which one is cheaper at your revenue, and when a cheaper alternative makes sense. People search for "Skool pricing", "Skool fees" and "Skool transaction fee" before they start a group, and "Skool Hobby vs Pro" once they have one. ## Skool's plans **Skool plans, as of October 2026** | Plan | Price | Transaction fee | | --- | --- | --- | | Hobby | $9 a month | 10% | | Pro | $99 a month | 2.9% | _Hobby $9 a month, Pro $99 a month. No free plan; 14-day free trial. Source: skool.com/pricing, checked October 2026._ ## What the transaction fee covers Skool processes members' payments itself, and its transaction fee includes card processing. That makes Skool's percentage look higher than platforms that add Stripe's fee on top, so compare all-in costs rather than headline rates. Some third-party reviews also report a fixed amount per transaction; the figures below leave it out, which if anything flatters Skool. ## Hobby or Pro: which is cheaper? Skool Pro costs less than Hobby once a group sells more than about **$1,270 a month**. Below that, Hobby's lower subscription wins despite its higher fee. **Monthly cost on Skool's plans, with Allied Tribes for comparison** | Sales per month | Skool Hobby | Skool Pro | Allied Tribes (cheapest plan) | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | $250 | $34 | $106 | $32 on Pro | | $500 | $59 | $114 | $54 on Pro | | $1,000 | $109 | $128 | $96 on Pro | | $2,000 | $209 | $157 | $181 on Pro | | $5,000 | $509 | $244 | $436 on Pro | | $20,000 | $2,009 | $679 | $1,411 on Leader | _Assumes US card payments, an average sale of $50, and the cheapest plan on each platform at that revenue. Allied Tribes Free costs nothing until you sell, and Pro is $11 a month. - **You sell a little each month.** Under roughly $1,500 a month, a lower subscription matters more than the percentage, and Allied Tribes Pro usually costs less than either Skool plan. - **You sell a lot.** Above that, Skool Pro's all-in 2.9% is hard to beat. The table above shows exactly where. - **You want more than a group and a course.** Paid one-to-one sessions, events with tickets, live video rooms and an AI guide come with Allied Tribes on every plan. Compare in detail: [Allied Tribes vs Skool](https://alliedtribes.com/compare/skool), or see [the best Skool alternatives](https://alliedtribes.com/compare/skool-alternatives). ## Frequently asked questions ### How much does Skool cost per month? As of October 2026, Skool Hobby is $9 a month with a 10% transaction fee and Skool Pro is $99 a month with a 2.9% transaction fee. Both have a 14-day free trial; there is no free plan. ### Does Skool charge a transaction fee? Yes: 10% on Hobby and 2.9% on Pro, and that fee includes card processing. ### When is Skool Pro worth it over Hobby? On cost alone, once your group sells more than about $1,270 a month. Below that, Hobby is cheaper. ### Is there a free alternative to Skool? This guide walks from that promise to your first paying members. This guide answers what people search as "how to start a paid community" or "how to monetize a community". On Allied Tribes the paid group is called a Tribe. ## 1. Make one clear promise Write down who the group is for and what changes for them by being in it. "New life insurance agents who want their first ten policies" is a group people can decide to join. "A place for growth" is not. ## 2. Decide what members get - **A place to ask and get answers**, from you and from each other - **A course** that takes them through the promise in order - **Live calls** on a predictable schedule - **Recognition** for showing up and helping others - **A paid upgrade** for people who want one-to-one time ## 3. Price it Price against the outcome, not against other groups. Common shapes are a monthly subscription, an annual price with a discount, or tiers where the higher tier adds a course or live access. Many people open with a lower founding-member price for the first members and raise it later. Do the arithmetic before you launch: 50 members at $30 a month is $1,500 a month in sales. On Allied Tribes that costs about $139 a month all-in on Pro. ## 4. Choose a platform by its all-in cost A platform's cost is its subscription plus its fee plus card processing, and the cheapest choice changes as you grow. See [Allied Tribes pricing](https://alliedtribes.com/pricing), [the best Skool alternatives](https://alliedtribes.com/compare/skool-alternatives) and [the best Kajabi alternatives](https://alliedtribes.com/compare/kajabi-alternatives) for worked numbers. ## 5. Set it up 1. Create a free Allied Tribes account and tell Freya what your group is for. 2. Freya sets up the Tribe and drafts its first posts. 3. Add a paid tier, your first Lessons and a recurring live event. 4. Connect your Stripe account so payouts go straight to you. ## 6. Invite your first members personally Your first members come from people who already know you. Message them one by one, explain the promise, and invite them in. A free level that leads to the paid tier lets people see the group before they pay. ## 7. Run the first 30 days on purpose - Welcome every new member by name - Hold the live call every week, at the same time, even if few people come - Post one prompt a day that is easy to answer - Recognize people who help others; points and leaderboards make that visible - Ask members what would make the group worth more to them ## Frequently asked questions ### Do I need a big audience to start a paid group? No. A small group of the right people, invited personally, is a better start than a large audience that does not share one goal. ### What does it cost to run a paid group on Allied Tribes? Nothing to start on the Free plan, with an 11% fee on sales. Pro is $11 a month with a 5% fee. Stripe's processing fee is separate. **Start your paid Tribe** Free to start. Freya sets it up with you. These are the seven ways to do it, and an order to add them in that does not drive members away. This guide answers what people search as "how to monetize a community" and "how to make money from a small community". On Allied Tribes the group is a Tribe. ## Seven ways to earn 1. **Paid membership tiers:** a monthly or yearly price for deeper access 2. **Courses:** a structured program, sold on its own or included in a tier 3. **Event tickets:** workshops, intensives and in-person meetups 4. **One-to-one sessions:** paid written answers or video calls for members who want direct help 5. **Digital products:** templates, scripts, recordings and guides 6. **Tips:** members thanking you, or each other, for a useful post 7. **Pay-per-view posts:** a single deep-dive that members unlock ## Add them in this order 1. Keep a free level so new people can see the value before paying 2. Sell what members already ask you for, usually your time or your method 3. Add one paid tier with a clear difference from the free level 4. Turn repeated answers into a course or a product 5. Offer one-to-one sessions to the members who want the most help ## Run the numbers As an example: if 25 members pay $20 a month, that is $500 a month in sales. On Allied Tribes that costs about $54 a month all-in on Pro. Compare platforms at your own numbers with the [fee calculator](https://alliedtribes.com/tools/fee-calculator). ## Doing it on Allied Tribes Every one of the seven is built in: [paid Tribes](https://alliedtribes.com/features/paid-tribes), [Lessons](https://alliedtribes.com/features/online-courses), [events and live video](https://alliedtribes.com/features/events-and-live-video), [Adepts](https://alliedtribes.com/features/expert-sessions), and [digital products, tips and pay-per-view posts](https://alliedtribes.com/features/sell-digital-products). This checklist runs from the paperwork that must be done before they sell to the coaching that gets them to steady production. Agency owners search for an "insurance agent onboarding checklist" and "insurance agent onboarding process"; new agents search for an insurance agent community to learn from. > **Check your own requirements** Licensing, appointment and training rules vary by state, carrier and product line. Use this as a starting list, not as legal or compliance advice. ## Before day one - Confirm the resident license is active for the right lines of authority, and apply for non-resident licenses in every state they will sell in - Confirm errors and omissions (E&O) coverage meets your agency's requirements - Submit carrier contracting and appointments; timing varies by carrier and state - Complete anti-money-laundering (AML) training if they will sell life insurance or annuities, which most carriers require - Complete annuity best-interest training where the state requires it before selling annuities - For Medicare, complete the annual AHIP certification (or an accepted equivalent) and each carrier's certification before selling - Run any background check your agency requires ## Week one - Set up access to the CRM, quoting tools, e-application systems and email - Train on your compliance rules: call recording, do-not-call and consent rules for outbound calls, and Medicare marketing rules where they apply - Teach the products for your top carriers first - Hand over your scripts and talk tracks, and role-play them - Introduce a mentor and set a weekly one-to-one ## First 30 days - Shadow experienced agents, then run joint appointments - Set daily activity targets: conversations, appointments, applications - Review every early application before it is submitted - Join the team's weekly training call ## Days 31 to 90 - Review production against targets every week - Plan continuing education to meet the state's renewal requirements - Recognize first policies and steady activity in front of the team - Agree the next step: independent production, a specialty, or mentoring the next class ## Running this checklist on Allied Tribes - **Lessons** for each phase, with quizzes, so every new agent learns the same way - **A Tribe** where new agents ask questions and get answers from the whole team - **Live video rooms** for the weekly training call and role-play - **Points and leaderboards** to make activity and first wins visible - **Child Tribes** for each office, team or downline agency - **Adepts** so experienced agents can offer paid mentorship sessions Allied Tribes handles training, the team space and recognition. It does not handle licensing, appointments, contracting or commissions. Start free at https://alliedtribes.com/hq/auth.html?mode=signup --- # How to recruit insurance agents Source: https://alliedtribes.com/guides/how-to-recruit-insurance-agents Updated: 2026-10-26 Good agents join a team they can see, from people who were straight with them about the work and the pay. This guide covers recruiting from the first conversation to a licensed agent on day one. Agency owners search "how to recruit insurance agents" and "how to recruit life insurance agents"; candidates search for an insurance agent community before they commit. ## 1. Decide who you are hiring Licensed agents switching agencies, career changers who still need a license, and part-time agents are different hires with different timelines. Pick the one your training and leads can actually support. ## 2. Describe the opportunity honestly - How agents are paid, including commission splits, any advances and how chargebacks work - What the agency provides: leads, training, mentorship, tools - What agents pay for themselves: licensing, exam fees, E&O coverage, leads - What a normal first 90 days looks like > **Keep income claims supportable** Describe how pay works rather than promising a figure. Candidates who were oversold leave, and income claims can create legal exposure. ## 3. Find candidates - Referrals from your current agents, who know what the job takes - Licensed agents at other agencies looking for better support - Career changers from sales, service and teaching - Job boards and local networking - Your own posts and videos about what the work is really like When you contact candidates by phone or text, follow do-not-call and consent rules the same way you would for clients. ## 4. Let them see the team before they commit An open information session, a recorded day-in-the-life, and a chance to ask current agents questions do more than any pitch. Candidates want to know who they will work with. ## 5. Screen with a real conversation - Talk through why they want the job and what they expect to earn - Run a short role-play of a first call - Agree a licensing timeline if they are not licensed yet ## 6. Get them licensed and onboarded Pre-licensing education, the state exam and any fingerprinting or background requirements vary by state and line of authority. Once they are licensed, follow the [insurance agent onboarding checklist](https://alliedtribes.com/guides/insurance-agent-onboarding-checklist). ## Recruiting with Allied Tribes - **A public Tribe page** candidates can find and join, so they see your team before they apply - **Free events with RSVPs** for information sessions, held in built-in live video rooms - **Lessons** for your own pre-licensing study plan and onboarding - **Points and leaderboards** that show candidates what the team celebrates - **Child Tribes** so each office or downline recruits into its own space Allied Tribes does not handle licensing, appointments, contracting or commissions. Where a platform adds card processing on top of its own fee, Stripe's standard 2.9% + $0.30 is used. Member limits, taxes, currency conversion, payout fees and add-ons are not included._ ## How the cost is worked out - **Subscription:** the plan's listed monthly price. Where a platform only lists a yearly-billed price, that monthly equivalent is used and marked. - **Platform fee:** the platform's own percentage of each sale. - **Card processing:** included where the platform's fee already covers it (Skool, Whop); otherwise Stripe's standard 2.9% + $0.30 per sale, or the platform's own published rate. - **Cheapest plan:** each platform is shown on whichever of its plans costs least at your amount, so the comparison is fair to everyone. Prices come from each platform's own site and are linked from its comparison page. Spot one out of date? With no monthly fee, Whop costs least for simple payments at most amounts. Among platforms that host a group and courses, a low subscription wins at small amounts (Allied Tribes Pro at $11 a month) and a low percentage wins at large ones (Skool Pro at 2.9% all-in). ### Why does the average sale size matter? Card processing usually includes a fixed $0.30 per payment. At a $10 average sale that is 3% of revenue on its own; at $100 it is 0.3%. **Start on Allied Tribes free** No monthly fee until the lower fees on Pro pay for themselves.
