## How the cost is worked out

- **Subscription:** the plan's listed monthly price. Where a platform only lists a yearly-billed price, that monthly equivalent is used and marked.
- **Platform fee:** the platform's own percentage of each sale.
- **Card processing:** included where the platform's fee already covers it (Skool, Whop); otherwise Stripe's standard 2.9% + $0.30 per sale, or the platform's own published rate.
- **Cheapest plan:** each platform is shown on whichever of its plans costs least at your amount, so the comparison is fair to everyone.

### Which platform has the lowest fees for selling memberships?

It depends on how much you sell. With no monthly fee, Whop costs least for simple payments at most amounts. Among platforms that host a group and courses, a low subscription wins at small amounts (Allied Tribes Pro at $11 a month) and a low percentage wins at large ones (Skool Pro at 2.9% all-in).

### Why does the average sale size matter?

Card processing usually includes a fixed $0.30 per payment. At a $10 average sale that is 3% of revenue on its own; at $100 it is 0.3%.
